The Giving Day Walk is a 10km adventure for students, staff, alumni and our Western community. Join a team with your friends and raise funds for what you’re most passionate about at Western.
The Walk will start and finish at the University's Parramatta South campus and will travel along Parramatta River to CommBank Stadium. Walkers will take in the picturesque setting of Parramatta Park before travelling back through the CBD to our 1 Parramatta Square and 6 Hassall Street campuses and returning along the river for a celebratory finish at Parramatta South campus.
Together in just one day, we can make an enormous difference!
Training
Start with small-ish distances and work up to the length you'll be trekking on your trip/event. When you start your training, leave a day in between each walk to let your body recover. But as your body gets fitter, try to do back-to-back sessions each day – it'll help build your stamina and endurance.*
Fundraising tips
Here are the top 3 tips to get to your goal:
1. Your online fundraising page is the easiest way to kick start your fundraising. By adding your personal story, training updates and images, people will be more likely to make a donation to you. Be authentic!
2. Make a personal donation to your fundraising page before you send it to your networks. It’s a great way to get yourself moving towards your target and shows your commitment to potential supporters.
3. Share your page on social media and send an email to your networks. Spread the message about why you’re fundraising for a particular cause at Western. Share it leading up to Giving Day and on the day of the walk!
